We've expanded our workshop offerings to make it easier for you to learn at the labs! Want to learn how to use the CNC Router or CNC Mills? The following workshops will allow you to gain all of the skills you'll need!
Fusion 360 CAD Through hands-on projects, students In this workshop will be guided through Autodesk Fusion 360’s Cloud-Based, parametric modeling by navigating the user interface, sketching geometry, building features, relating components into functioning assemblies, sculpting with T-Splines, all while discussing the merits of direct-edit and history based modeling together with Top-Down and Bottom-Up design strategies supported by Fusion 360. This is an introductory class geared toward anyone looking to build projects using 3D Computer Aided Drawing; no prior CAD experience is necessary!
Fusion 360 CAM Fusion 360’s included, intuitive and powerful CAM Package is meant for everyone from beginners using CNC milling or routing tools to experienced machinists alike! This workshop leads students through the Computer Aided Manufacturing interface of Fusion 360 by setting up a project’s stock and cutting tools while exploring a number of milling strategies to generate 2.5 dimensional and 3 dimensional toolpaths without ever leaving the Fusion 360 workspace. Additional topics related to Computer Numerical Control (CNC) manufacturing will be discussed including proper workholding and the selection of feeds and speeds.
CNC Router Learn how to use the CNC router to route/mill plywood, hardwoods, mdf, etc. This workshop will cover CNC router usage including feeds/speeds, cutter selection, work holding, milling strategies, machine operation, and troubleshooting. Each student will take a project created in Fusion 360 and run that job on the router table under supervision to learn the ins and outs of router table usage.
CNC Milling Learn the ins and outs of cnc milling on a 3 axis cnc mil. This workshop will cover CNC mill usage including cutter selection, feeds/speeds, work holding, milling strategies, machine operation, and troubleshooting for the CNC mills. Each student will take a project created in Fusion 360 and run that job on the router table under supervision to learn the ins and outs of router table usage.
