Come dig into tomato season with us on the farm! 🌱 In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to grow healthier, more productive tomato plants in our unique climate—from soil prep and planting to pruning, trellising, and harvesting at peak flavor. We’ll share farmer-tested tips, common mistakes to avoid, and simple techniques you can use whether you’re growing in the ground, raised beds, or containers. You’ll get time in the field to learn with the farmer and ask questions while surrounded by thriving plants. Leave inspired, confident, and ready to grow your best tomatoes yet! 🍅
Cost includes 2 tomato transplants to take home from the farm.
About the Instructor: This class will be lead by the Finca Tres Robles farm team.
Rocio Puente, Farmer Apprentice at Finca Tres Robles, was born and raised in Magnolia Park. Graduating from the University of Houston, her career has involved Special Education and connecting students to resources as a Wraparound Specialist. Most recently, she was introduced to agriculture through Furr High School’s agriculture program. Her passion for humanity and life have led her down the path of submerging herself in the Earth. Growing in the East End, Rocio always dreamt of a green space that cultivated food for her community. In the end, her dream came true.
Brandon Nehilla, Farm Manager at Finca Tres Robles. Born and raised mostly in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Served proudly as a combat medic and mental health specialist in the US Army. Lived many lives leading into farming and is happy to live many more lives on this journey. Starting with an herb and pepper garden, interest were piqued with an urban farming program to further knowledge in order to become a better all around grower. Been farming ever since.

Weather Cancellation Policy: Classes may be cancelled by Finca Tres Robles in the case of severe weather; however classes will not automatically be cancelled due to rain. Please stay in contact with farm staff if concerned about weather. Classes will be rescheduled as necessary.
