Intro to Heat Treating

Learn basic Heat Treating Methodology

Annealing, Normalizing, Hardening, and Tempering will be covered for ferrous and non-ferrous materials including carbon steels and steel alloys. Case Hardening of Low Carbon Steel will also be covered. Participants will obtain hands on experience in hardening and tempering of appropriate carbon steel and case hardening low carbon steel.

Participants will complete a simple heat treated part to keep using both standard hardening via quenching w/ tempering and case hardening.
