Porcelain and Gold Luster Jewelry

In this two part ceramics workshop, you will learn how to make porcelain ceramic pendants decorated with gold luster.

In the first session, students will use porcelain to make pendants, charms, or small objects from a thin clay slab. In the second session, students will learn how to use gold luster and apply it to the objects made in the first session. Students will leave the workshop with a number of porcelain pendants and the supplies to turn one of these pendants into a complete necklace. While this class focuses on creating jewelry, the techniques learned also apply to functional or sculptural ceramic work.

Note: Students will return after the workshop to pickup pendants that have been both glaze and luster fired. Students will be supplied with the chain and findings necessary to create one complete necklace.
