Growing Gourmet Mushrooms

Learn how to turn straw into pounds of gourmet Pink Oyster mushrooms in less than a month. In this class, we will cover the most cost-effective techniques to turn the shaded spaces of your yard into productive mushroom gardens. The Pink Oyster mushroom is easy to cultivate, fast-growing, ideal for farmers' markets, & perfectly suited to the Gulf Coast climate. Come prepare your own “log” of substrate, seed it with mushroom spawn, learn how to tend it, and get some good recipe ideas for harvest time. This species will also grow on coffee grounds, cardboard, sawdust, and other agricultural waste streams. Get some basic mushroom-growing skills, and take your own mushroom log home with you.
