Studio Hours are here to stay! We've had a few questions about studio hours and wanted to clarify!

What are studio hours for? Studio hours are scheduled times when we will have a staff member available for assistance in a specific area of the labs. Studio hours are perfect for members who have taken a workshop and are beginning a personal project, but might need a little help! Members attending studio hours for an area MUST have taken a workshop in that area. For example, in order to attend Rapid Fabrication studio hours to get assistance with a 3D printing project from Jess, members must have taken our 3D printing I workshop.

Who can come to studio hours? Studio hours are for TXRX members!

I have a tinkerer membership, can I come to studio hours during the week? Yes! Weekly studio hours are open to members that utilize the tinkerer plan. During this time, tinkerer members are only able to utilize the equipment in the area with open studio hours, NOT other areas in the labs.

What's the deal with woodworking studio hours? In order to be certified to work in our woodshop, you must attend our Woodworking I workshop and then come to studio hours. During studio hours, you should bring in personal projects to work on. Our woodworking staff will be around to answer any questions you might have and ensure you're working safely in the studio while you work on your projects. Once our woodworking staff feels confident that you can safely operate equipment in the woodworking area alone, you'll be certified in the woodshop.
