Wood Lathe I: Spindle Turning

Learn the essentials of the wood lathe and traditional lathe tools. Students will learn to prepare and set up blanks between centers and learn basic tool techniques using roughing gouges, spindle gouges, skews, parting tool, and scrapers, as well as sanding and finishing on the lathe. You will leave the class with a finished project.

The class will also provide a basic overview of sharpening lathe tools for those who want to continue turning on their own.

After completion of this workshop, members that want to be checked out on the wood lathe should come to studio hours until approved to work without guidance.

Some woodworking experience is recommended. This is a small class, so limited spots available!
