Every first Friday of the month at TXRX brings new craftily curated classes from Pop Shop America. This series of workshops commenced the first of April with the gilding of a million animals. The art lab was transformed into a cozy social gathering with handmade decor and an inviting spread of snacks and adult refreshments. In this workshop, participants gilded miniature animal figures and turned them into candle holders, decorative jars, and place holders.
With these workshops Pop Shop aims to teach beginner friendly crafts which can be turned into sellable design goods. The lineup of classes includes making terrariums, eco friendly cleaning products, and DIY bath soak. In addition to hands on workshops, Pop Shop will also be hosting Intro to Etsy & Intro to Shopify to teach others how to bring their craft to market on the online retail platforms.
Pop Shop America unites makers by producing on going Mini Pops markets, the Pop Shop Houston Summer Festival, and Pop Shop Houston Holiday Festival. Local sellers, small businesses, and independent artists are given the opportunity to share their goods with over 15,000 attendees yearly. It's more than a marketplace, offering activities for all participants. Along with shopping local handmade goods, attendees can learn about artists' processes, try their hand at various demos and workshops, or enjoy a craft activity with the kids. Pop Shop America events are also available through partnerships with Harris County Library and Houston Public Library where they bring STEAM and craft activities to local Houston children.
As with all Pop Shop America events, from workshops to markets, one can expect a visually pleasing, enjoyable, and educational experience. For full class listing and enrollment, visit Pop Shop Craft Workshops at TXRX.
